Srinu misses Olympic qualifying mark by a whisker by Samiksha New Delhi, March : Vizianagaram’s Srinu Bugatha came tantalizingly close to qualifying for the Tokyo Olympic Games while comfortably winning the 6th edition of the Ageas Federal Life Insurance New Delhi Marathon here on Sunday. The Army Sports Institute’s ace runner clocked a personal best of 2 hours 14 minutes and 59 seconds which was just shy of the 2 hours 11 minutes and 30 seconds that he was targeting to earn himself a run in the world’s blue riband event. Asian Games gold medallist Sudha Singh, who was aiming for her own hat-trick of Olympic appearances, won the women’s title in 2:43:41. That was, however, off the national record of 2:30.00 which would have earned her a ticket to Tokyo. by Samiksha New Delhi, March : Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju promised full government support to young girls who wanted to take up motorsports while felicitating India’s top women in the sport on Monday to mark International Women’s Day. He had a special word praise for Aashi Hanspal, Kart Racer from Mumbai, who was one of the youngest members of the delegation, calling her a ‘little daredevil.’ Aashi, who was decorated with the ‘Outstanding Women in Motorsport’ title by the FMSCI in 2019, had become the only girl from the country to qualify for FIA’s Girls on Track-Rising Stars event in France in Oct. 2020. He has been appointed to this position by the Central Government.   Shri Ranjan has been with the Bank since 2008. He was Chief General Manager, responsible for steering Bank’s vision and goals including strategic agenda of end-to-end digitisation. Prior to this, he was the head of Treasury operations. by Samiksha Mumbai, March 13, 2021 : Continuing its work to help the rag-pickers of Mumbai, Clean-Up Foundation conducted an awareness campaign on improving health and hygiene of the city’s rag-pickers along with creating awareness about the COVID 19 vaccination. The initiative was part of the National Safety Week 2021 drive and was conducted in association with Aasra Welfare Association at ‘H’ West ward of MCGM. The team of Clean-Up Foundation along with a few independent practicing doctors participated in this novel initiative.   During this event, Dr. Jitendra Patil, MBBS and Occupational Health Specialist highlighted the hazards, risks and control measures for health and personal hygiene management. He also shared the importance of COVID-19 vaccination and how safe it is to get oneself vaccinated.
