Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai Launches Precision Oncology Clinic to Deliver Personalised, Genomics-Led Cancer Care

Navi Mumbai | 18th January 2025: Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai today announced the launch of its Precision Oncology Clinic, a first-of-its-kind programme designed to deliver deeply personalised cancer treatment based on a patient’s genomic profile, biomarker subtype, age, comorbidities, lifestyle factors, and individual treatment goals.

In an era where the same cancers can behave in markedly different ways in different patients, the traditional ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach is no longer sufficient. Precision Oncology enables clinicians to identify the most effective drug, anticipate treatment-related toxicity, and customise therapy to maximise efficacy while minimising side effects.

Speaking on the launch, Dr. Jyoti Bajpai Lead Consultant, Medical and Precision Oncology, Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai, said, “Genomics tells us not just what cancer a patient has, for example, breast cancer, but also the type and subtype based on the genetics. Breast cancer can be Luminal A, Luminal B, Triple-negative, or HER2 type, with each type varying in aggressiveness and responding differently to therapies.

“The Precision Oncology Clinic allows us to reach this more precise diagnosis and treat the patient with a more personalised treatment strategy. We can select the most effective drug for that cancer type, at the right dose for the right patient, and even predict complications before they occur. This is no longer the future of oncology; this is oncology today.”

Adding to this, Mr. Arunesh Punetha, Regional CEO – Western Region, Apollo Hospitals, shared, “Precision Oncology allows us to move beyond a one-size-fits-all approach, ensuring every patient receives care tailored to their disease, biology, age, gender, profession, preferences, and life circumstances.”

The Precision Oncology Clinic at Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai offers genomics-driven cancer care with advanced molecular science, clinical expertise, and a patient-focused approach. Patients receive comprehensive genomic profiling, including next-generation sequencing, to detect actionable mutations and pathway changes.

Therapeutic strategies use targeted agents and precision medicines to maximise effectiveness and minimise side effects. All cases are reviewed by a multidisciplinary tumour board, including oncologists, pathologists, genetic counsellors, radiologists, and support specialists, ensuring evidence-based, consensus-driven decisions.

The launch of the Precision Oncology Clinic underscores Apollo Hospitals’ commitment to excellence, research, and technology-enabled healthcare. By integrating genomic science with multidisciplinary expertise, it aims to redefine cancer treatment standards and deliver more predictable, safer, outcome-focused therapy for patients.
